Description: Active breathwork is a guided practice done lying down, using a three-part breath through the mouth. The pattern is simple: two inhales followed by one exhale, repeated in a steady flow. Breathing this way can bring more energy into the body and open space for healing, release, and self-discovery.
People’s experiences can vary — sometimes it feels calming, joyful, or creative, and other times it may bring up emotions or physical sensations as the body lets go of tension. All of these responses are natural. You are always in charge of your experience, and you can slow down, pause, or return to your natural breathing at any time. My role is to guide and support you so that whatever comes up can be met with safety and care.
About the presenter, Josephine Edmondson:
Josephine Edmondson is a Seattle-based healer and yoga teacher trainer specializing in trauma-informed practices. She founded the University of Washington’s Yoga for Healing Program and served as its lead teacher and curriculum developer for three years; the program continues today, supporting students who are trauma survivors. Over the last seventeen years, Josephine has taught yoga, meditation, and breathwork in a variety of settings, including prisons, juvenile detention centers, and eating disorder treatment programs, always centering safety, accessibility, and empowerment.
Josephine also has a private healing practice offering Reiki, breathwork, and one-on-one mentorships. Her work helps people reconnect with their bodies, find steadiness in vulnerability, and experience healing at their own pace.
